If you want to know about me, personally or professionally, we should chat about rock climbing.

When climbing is done well (as I aspire to do it), it requires curiosity, optimism and discipline, along with a healthy dose of courage for when we are up to the challenge, and self-awareness for when we are not up to the challenge without a strong team around us.

Climbing is about rational evaluation of an objective and about 100% commitment to success in the moment. It is about repeated iteration and a willingness to change tactics the second the current approach is no longer working. Climbing is about quantifying and planning for your fear so that it doesn’t intrude on your decision-making capability and so that you’re properly afraid of the real threats, not the perceived ones.

Climbing is, in short, a perfect personal practice for me, and a large part of why I am an effective professional.
